Authentic ales

At the end of the 19th century there were no fewer than 31 breweries and 488 bars in Maastricht. Today the sole remaining one is the Bosch family’s De Keyzer Steam Brewery.

A visit to this authentic brewery will teach you everything about brewing beer through the ages.

“Everything in the brewery is authentic. In fact the malt house, brewing house and the brewer’s home are listed as a national heritage monument.”

When you enter De Keyzer Steam Brewery you feel you’ve travelled back in time more than a century. Beer was brewed here until 1970 and everything you see here is authentic. The malt house, brewing house and the brewer’s home are in original condition and listed as a national heritage monument. On Saturdays there is a guided tour during which you learn all about the history and process of brewing. Obviously, the tours are rounded off by a tasting of craft beers.

Hey, did you know?

Together with Bierbrouwerij De Roos in Hilvarenbeek, De Keyzer Brewery is the last fully equipped craft beer brewery.
