Walking enthusiasts can walk to their heart’s content around Soest. For instance, explore one of the so-called klompenpaden (clog paths), where you walk straight through the pastures with cattle and can have a cup of coffee in a farm yard along the way. So, put on your walking shoes (or clogs), grab your backpack and go!
One of the klompenpaden in the area of Soest is the Derde Erfpad. What’s special about this route is that it’s part of the Food Klompenpad: along this path, you’ll see all kinds of wild ingredients you can pick, such as dandelion leaf in the spring, burdock root from October and blackberries in August and September. You’ll also walk along the Eem river for a bit and pass the dunes of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. For this route, follow the red marking shaped like a clog.
Please note that this path will be closed for the time being as of January 1, 2022. Check out the website for other great hiking routes.
Hey, did you know?
Klompenpad het Derde Erf (which translates as ‘the third farmyard’) owes its name to the fact that it was the third farm you’d pass when travelling from Amersfoort to Soest on the Brinkstraat.
