Hotspots in the Hofbogen

Under the old railroad overpass, where the train once passed between Scheveningen and Rotterdam, is the place to be if you enjoy restaurants, design and fashion.

A great starting point for a walk along the Hofbogen is the Luchtsingel, a striking wooden pedestrian bridge of 390 metres long.

This area had been impoverished for years, but nowadays, the arches of the old railroad overpass house all kinds of hip shops and restaurants.

The Luchtsingel connects the centre to Rotterdam-Noord. In this formerly impoverished area, one hip hotspot after the other is now opening its doors under the arches of the old railroad overpass.

At DakAkker, on the roof of the Schieblock, you’ve got a good view of the former Hofplein station and the Hofbogen. Subsequently walk past the railroad towards the Vijverhofstraat. A few addresses for your list: designer shop North Sea Design, Man met Bril for good coffee and Oorzaak voor vinyl.

Between 1904 and 1908, the Zuid Hollandse Elektrische Spoorweg Maatschappij constructed the Hofplein Line, an alternative train connection between Rotterdam Hofplein, The Hague and Scheveningen.
