Within walking distance of Amsterdam Centraal Station, we find one of the loveliest shopping streets in the city: Haarlemmerstraat & Haarlemmerdijk. No two stores are the same. Here, you’ll find independent, unique businesses such as boutiques, speciality stores, salons and restaurants.
Where to begin in these inviting shopping streets? Well, a good place is Haarlemmerplein where there’s an organic market each Wednesday. From here, you can walk along Haarlemmerdijk which changes its name to Haarlemmerstraat as it crosses Prinsengracht. A few nice shops to bear in mind: Meeuwig & Zn for olive oil, I love Vintage for themed party gear and Suhka for posters with hand-written messages to make you smile. Don’t miss the side streets and their hidden gems.
Hey, did you know?
You get a view of the Haarlemmerpoort from Haarlemmerplein. The port was rebuilt five times in all since every time the city expanded, it had to move up a little to the west towards Haarlem.
