Pastime in the park

No lack of green in Apeldoorn. Of course the city borders National Park De Hoge Veluwe.

But within the city borders, there’s also plenty of green to be found in the many parks. Two of these, the stately Oranjepark and the lively Berg & Bos, are certainly worth strolling through.

Apeldoorn has many beautiful city parks.

The Oranjepark is Apeldoorn’s oldest park. It was opened in 1876 and is a typical park, with curved paths, wide fields, ponds, a bandstand and monumental trees. The stately villas surrounding the park give it even more allure. City park Berg & Bos is quite the opposite with a more active atmosphere. With its watchtower, playing field and deer and wild boar forest, this park is a popular spot for families. The Apenheul and Klimbos Veluwe are also situated in this park.

Hey, did you know?

When you come by the pond, you’ll see the ‘Stone Bench’. Queen Wilhelmina once painted at this spot.
